Johnny Wiseman, is a well established runner and is known for being a cold and calculating professional.

He likes to gamble and fairly skilled at it, but he is not very lucky.

In 2065, he lost a big hand to Akito "Tuesday" Takemura, a member of the local Yakuza. Akito decided not to have Wiseman killed, when he couldn't pay the 250,000 nuyen that was owed. Instead, he decided to have Wiseman work off the debt.

During the last couple of years, Johnny has assassinated quite a few powerful people for the Yakuza and is now close to being free of this debt. However, he has developed a taste for this type of work and wants to continue working for Akito, as a freelancer.
